Want to combine your super? Take advantage of the many benefits you’ll receive when you consolidate your superannuation funds:
What happens if I can't find my super?
A change was introduced in 2009 that allows the government to collect super in lost and inactive accounts. If your super account has been inactive for 5 years i.e. you haven’t made a super contribution and your fund has made two failed attempts to contact you, it may be grounds for the fund to consider your account as lost super and send the balance to the ATO. In this instance you may need to use the ATO's SuperSeeker tool to start the process of finding and consolidating your super.
Record keeping is important when you are looking to consolidate your super. Up to date records of your accounts will allow you to easily provide details to the super fund of your choice and get the ball rolling on consolidating your super into one account.
