Co-contributions calculator assumptions

 

  1. Income for co-contribution purposes is the total of assessable income plus reportable employer superannuation contributions (such as salary sacrifice contributions) and reportable fringe benefits. For the self-employed, co-contribution income excludes eligible deductions incurred in running a business.
  2. Eligibility to contribute to superannuation is assumed.
  3. Contributions to superannuation are generally preserved until retirement and you will not be able to access them until that time.
  4. You have supplied your tax file number to your superannuation fund.
  5. You have lodged, or will be lodging an income tax return in the relevant year.
  6. You are less than 71 years old at the end of the financial year.
  7. You do not hold an eligible temporary resident visa at any time during the year, unless you are a New Zealand resident or holder of a prescribed visa.
  8. 10% or more of your total income is from eligible employment, carrying on a business or a combination of both.
